Foundations | Sunday, October 20th 3:30 – 6:00pm

This workshop is designed to create an injury-free, long term yoga practice that starts with proper alignment techniques of regularly taught poses. These poses may look simple, but like all strong foundations – they are the key to unlocking all other poses in your practice.

Barbara will be breaking down foundational yoga poses such as Downward Dog, 3 Legged Dog, Plank, Upward Dog, Crescent Lunge, Warrior I, II, III and Triangle Pose. Learn the basic anatomical structure and mechanics of the human body, followed by a practice to experience these poses a lot more efficiently in your body once understood. You will be guided through key alignment and modifications to suit your individual body, whilst also learning the common mistakes to avoid that will leave you feeling confident and safe to grow your flow in a group class environment.

Whether you’re a total newbie or an experienced yogi looking to refine your practice, you’ll walk away with a clear understanding of the key alignment points for foundational poses, the common “do’s and dont’s” and the ability to modify the practice to suit your individual body structure. Come explore and have fun in a supportive environment with lots of time to ask questions!

Progressions | Sunday, November 3rd 3:30 – 6:00pm

If you’ve been wanting to progress into more advanced variations of poses and build confidence on the mat, this is the workshop for you.

Barbara will be breaking down complex twists and balancing poses such as Revolved Triangle, Revolved Half Moon, Bird of Paradise, Dancers, Sugarcane (Chapasana) and Extended Hand to Big Toe Pose (Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana) A, B & C.

Learn to breakdown poses based on human anatomical lines & principles, followed by a short flow to prepare the body, mind and breath. Once the body is warm, you’ll workshop through the focus postures with a detailed step-by-step demonstration and practice to feel them in your own bodies. You will learn the right muscle engagements and how to implement anatomical principles to keep your practice safe and injury free. All progressions will be offered as layered variations to experiment with in a happy and relaxed environment.

You will walk away with the knowledge on how to nail these complex poses with less effort and more ease, perhaps even unlocking a new revelation in your practice.
