Wonder if you’re doing it “right” in a yoga class? Join us as we break down the components of foundational postures focusing on alignment and effective muscular engagement. You’ll work through key poses such as Downward Dog, Chaturanga, Upward Dog, Warrior 1, 2 and more. They may look simple, but like all strong foundations – are the key to unlocking more complex poses in your practice.

 

Whether you’re a total newbie or an experienced yogi looking to gain the necessary tools to build upon more complex asanas, you’ll walk away with a clear understanding of the key alignment points for foundational poses, common “do’s and dont’s” and the ability to modify the practice to suit your individual body.

 

Grow your flow: Headstands

Conquer your fear of going upside down with Ed as he breaks down the king of yoga poses – the headstand! You’ll work through various strengthening drills to stabilize the core and shoulders which serve as the base of a strong headstand. Expect to build confidence going into and coming out of your headstand safely, and maybe even find some hang time off the wall! We’ll also explore different arm & leg variations, introducing fun shapes to your headstand practice.

 

You’ll walk away with:

  • an intro flow incorporating key headstand techniques
  • core & shoulder strengthening drills specific to inversions
  • how to get in and out of a headstand safely
  • how to use props (and the wall) to assist you
  • how to get off the wall & gain hang time
  • variations of headstands
